Arts @ Large is an innovative program that provides multidisciplinary arts experiences for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) K-12 students. Created in 2001 as an MPS District Program through funding from the U. S. Department of Education, Arts @ Large was designed to provide sustainable arts programming for students, and professional development in connecting arts to academics for teachers and after school providers in MPS. Arts @ Large became a nonprofit organization in 2005 in order to partner with local, regional and national funders to maximize resources for MPS schools. Arts @ Large initiatives highlight the essential role that art and music specialists and members of the greater arts community play in creating an inclusive atmosphere of classroom learning.
