Position Title: Development Intern

Reports to: Director of Development and Marketing

Location: Milwaukee, WI 

Type: Paid Internship, Part-Time (Flexible hours – maximum 20 hours per week)

The mission of Arts @ Large is to activate Milwaukee’s communities to build environments that support arts-rich, lifelong learning. Our vision is that all Milwaukee students have equal access to an education that includes the arts regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. We use the arts to cultivate vibrant, inclusive, and innovative communities where students, their families, and residents excel and grow.

Arts @ Large was founded in 2001, primarily working with schools that lacked full-time arts instruction. A@L has gone on to provide arts-integrated learning to Milwaukee students for more than two decades. Our programs examine human connectivity and long-term betterment through the arts to teach that individuality and personal behaviors can influence social change and build sustainable creative careers. We collaborate with diverse partners and artists to make arts available across all school curriculum areas and in after-school, summer, and other community programs.

 

Position Overview:

Arts @ Large seeks a passionate and motivated Development Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, marketing, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Grant Research and Writing:
    1. Research potential grant opportunities.
    2. Assist in the development of grant proposals, reports, and related materials.
    3. Help maintain accurate grant files and master grants calendar.
  2. Donor Relations:
    1. Support in cultivating and maintaining relationships with individual donors and corporate partners.
    2. Generate donor thank you letters and cards.
    3. Assist in the coordination of donor appreciation activities.
  3. Fundraising Events:
    1. Collaborate in the planning and execution of fundraising events.
    2. Provide on-site support during events.
  4. Social Media and Communication:
    1. Contribute to social media campaigns related to fundraising and donor engagement.
    2. Assist in creating content for newsletters and other communication materials.
  5. Database Management:
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor information in the organization’s database.
