Do you want to be part of the 2024-25 Artist-in-Residence Cohort?

The Arts @ Large Community Center Artist-in-Residence program provides artists of all mediums in Southeastern Wisconsin the opportunity to showcase their own art and creative practice. Through this program artists will invoke community, build capacity, and translate their work as artist-educators.

This unique residency offers artists:

  • Compensation of up to $10,000
  • Three months of access to a public studio in the Arts @ Large Community Center
  • Gallery exhibition in the Arts @ Large Gallery for works created during the residency
  • Professional curation consultation from Arts @ Large Staff
  • Time for reflection, research, and exploration
  • Opportunities to engage with a diverse spectrum of learners in community and school settings
  • Curriculum/workshop development
  • Opening reception promoted by Gallery Night MKE
  • Professional documentation and promotion of work created during the residency
  • Closing celebration

Workshops, community conversations, exhibitions, performances, and studio practice are just a few of the opportunities that will be explored in designing your residency. You will work with our Curator, Instructional Designer, and the rest of the Arts @ Large team to dream up your residency plans.

The Arts @ Large Artist-in-Residence program may support a single artist or group of artists encouraging collaboration across art forms. Residencies will be individualized and tailored to the needs of the artist(s) and Arts @ Large. It is our expectation that this residency will support cultural and artistic exchange, nurture experimentation and visionary ideas, as well as support research and the development of new creative work.

You are encouraged to spend a minimum of five hours a week in the studio/gallery space engaging as an artist, educator, or both.
