The Arts @ Large Community Center Artist-in-Residence program provides artists of all mediums in Southeastern Wisconsin the opportunity to showcase their own art and creative practice. Through this program artists will invoke community, build capacity, and translate their work as artist-educators.
This unique residency offers artists:
Workshops, community conversations, exhibitions, performances, and studio practice are just a few of the opportunities that will be explored in designing your residency. You will work with our Curator, Instructional Designer, and the rest of the Arts @ Large team to dream up your residency plans.
The Arts @ Large Artist-in-Residence program may support a single artist or group of artists encouraging collaboration across art forms. Residencies will be individualized and tailored to the needs of the artist(s) and Arts @ Large. It is our expectation that this residency will support cultural and artistic exchange, nurture experimentation and visionary ideas, as well as support research and the development of new creative work.
You are encouraged to spend a minimum of five hours a week in the studio/gallery space engaging as an artist, educator, or both.
The mission of Arts @ Large (A@L) is to activate Milwaukee’s communities to build environments that support arts-rich, lifelong learning.
Our vision is that all Milwaukee residents have access to the arts regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. We use the arts to cultivate vibrant, inclusive, and innovative communities where students, their families, and residents excel and grow.
